Direct Response Marketing
Direct Response Marketing
Direct Response
Direct response marketing is all about getting a direct response from your target audience. In other words, you must, “Capture the Click“.
This could be in the form of a:
-
- Sale
- Lead
- Subscription
- or even just a click-through to your website
To succeed in direct response marketing, you need to have a clear call to action that is relevant to your target audience. You also need to track your results so that you can see what’s working, and what is not.
The DRC (Direct Response Copywriter) is a “Saleman in Print” that tries to “Beat the Control“. “Beat the Control“, is ad-speak, or business-jargon, which basically means, “Create and compare the best ad, scale the winners, lose the losers”.
Lose the ones that aren’t working, and scales up the ads that are bringing positive results. It’s all based on monetary results, that’s why direct response advertising works so well. $$$
A direct response marketer can often get a percentage (3-7%) and a handsome base-pay between $5,000 and 10,000 just to write the Advertisement
Brand Awareness
Brand awareness is all about getting your brand name out there. It’s about creating a strong identity for your company that people will remember.
To succeed in brand awareness, you need to have a strong branding strategy that includes things like a great logo, consistent messaging, and a clear target audience.
You also need to make sure you are visible in all the right places, such as online, in print, and on social media.
You need to concentrate on various social media platforms.
Including social media platforms such as: Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn
… you may also want to look at having a presence on Twitter, although at the time of writing, no one is really quite certain what direction Twitter’s going regarding Mr. Elon Musk.
It’s hard to tell where that’s going to end up.
Advertising
Advertising is all about getting your message in front of as many people as possible. It’s about reaching a large audience with your marketing message.
Google and Bing, or should I say, Microsoft Advertising, Microsoft adCenter, or maybe MSN adCenter, are two of the most popular at the moment.
It’s as well to look into both companies demographics to see which suits your business interests best.
To succeed in advertising, you need to have a clear understanding of your target audience and where they are to be found.
Like many Ad platforms they’re undergoing name/brand changes at present.
You also need to have a budget for your advertising campaign and a plan for how you will track your results.
To discover what’s working in your advertising, and what’s not working, you need to carry out the right research.
Promotions
Promotions are all about running special offers and discounts to encourage people to buy your product or use your service.
As ever, to succeed in promotions, you need to have a clear understanding of your target audience and what they are looking for.
In fact, for any online campaign you are running, you always need to have a laser-sharp view of your targeted audience.
You also need to have a plan for how you will promote your offer and how you will track your results.

Headlines
The most important component in any copywriting campaign you do, is the headline. Your headline is the first, and perhaps only, impression you make on a prospective reader.
Interesting stat on Headlines > On average, 8 out of 10 people will read headline copy, but only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. This is the secret to the power of your title, and why it so highly determines the effectiveness of the entire piece.
